Amitabh Bachchan is very active on social media. Recently, he gave it back to a troll who slammed him for not making donations. A netizen asked him to 'lead by example' and raised a question as to why he does not do charity and help the needy. Replying to this, Big B made a long post revealing the list of donations he has done so far. He mentioned that he believes in doing charity without showing it off. Now, on this, veteran actor Dalip Tahil has made a series of posts recalling an incident from 1998.

Dalip Tahil has penned about Rs 10 Lakh donation that Amitabh Bachchan carried out secretly. In the posts, Dalip Tahil has revealed that Amitabh Bachchan was once asked to be a chief guest for a play organised by his alma mater - Sherwood College. The money collected would be used to improve facilities at college. Dalip Tahil was also present as he is from the same college. In the post, he revealed that Big B handed him an envelope and asked him to give it to the principal once the event was over.

Dalip Tahil further revealed, "This he did to avoid (during his presence) any big announcements & fanfare!! The envelope contained a cheque of ₹10 lac, (in 1998) as a personal contribution by Mr #Bachchan over & above the monies collected from the event." Allow me to say that Amit ji, has for the longest time silently given financial support to those in need & I have been witness to this personally. Around the late 90s, Sherwood College our (alma mater) was in need of funds for various school facility improvements. 2/6

Towards this end, the school's drama society suggested they perform a play in Mumbai & request #Bachchan saab to be the chief guest (to which, despite a hectic schedule he agreed without hesitation). The proceeds earned from this event would be donated to the school. 3/6

After the show was over, the special guests were invited on stage. Before #Amitji took his place on the dias, he called me aside & handed me an envelope to be given to the principal only after the ceremonies were concluded & once he had left the house!! 4/6
